Research Interests:
I am interested in understanding the basic mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis and other advanced lung diseases. My team applies a multihierarchical systems biology approach in which we try to dissect regulatory networks in the lung using expression arrays, high throughput analysis of promoter binding (using Chip on CHIP) of lung disease relevant transcription factors (NFkB, FOXA2, SMAD) and proteomic technologies. On the translational aspect my team focuses on identifying biomarkers for disease presence, progression and response to therapy using expression patterns in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and targeted secreted proteomic of plasma and serum. Computationally we are interested in development of tools and analytical approaches for gene expression analysis and especially in approaches that allow integration of multiple levels of biological and clinical information unto gene expression and gene polymorphism data.
